Kens & Dougs stag night

Started off quite sedate with a few beers and a round of golf, then the sambuca's and tequila's arrived and it started to go wrong for Ken. Doug managed to get off lightly as his wedding was 2 years ago, this was a post wedding stag for him as he didnt have one before his wedding.

Few beers in Double Decker, Ken switched to water, then off to Longs bar, part 3 of the 6 part adventure Ken had planned.... he fell asleep on the bus as did Jon.

After staggering into Longs bar Ken went straight to the toilet where he slept for an hour before going home very drunk.

The rest of us went to a dodgy bar called Rattlesnake... wont be going there again.

My parents came over for a holiday a few weeks ago, so took them to the RAK Hilton Beach Resort, it was very nice.

Mini-van crash

Police and motorists tried to remove a mini-van which had crashed on SZR.

Dodgy wall

Nearly 100 workers at the site of the 'tallest building with a twist' had a lucky escape yesterday as a wall holding back the Dubai Marina waters breached and flooded the foundation site.

If they cant build a simple wall to hold back water what hope do they have of building an 80 storey tower?

Whaleshark

Four-metre whale shark attracts crowd of admirers in Abu Dhabi, it had the good sense to leave quickly before someone tried to eat it or it was charged rent.

Breakfast

Now thats a breakfast, I didn't eat for the rest of the day.

Arse of the week 18

This arse in the silver Mercedes is too lazy to drive up to the roundabout to do a u-turn so he risks his life crossing 5 lanes of a motorway to go through an Emergency vehicles only gap in the barrier. He does this everyday at about 7am, what an arse.

Dangerous construction

Constructions sites are pretty dangerous especially when they have girders swinging over the roads, occasionally they fall, like this one in Abu Dhabi behind Fetooh Al Khair Shopping Centre... wouldn't want to be sitting in the back of that cab.

Napping

Napping in the back of a truck driving down SZR. At least the boxes are well stacked and strapped down.

Drainage

The roads near my office seem to be lacking drains, the water is about a foot deep in places, good for soaking passers by with though.

Golf

Went to play golf on Friday, managed to hit 1 ball on the driving range before the heavens opened and rained for 4 hours. The weather was fine in the club house and the beer was cold. Kenny & I managed to get a few rounds on the Par 3 once the rain stopped.

F1 in Abu Dhabi

There was a bit of an F1 trial in the streets of Abu Dhabi over the weekend, in preparation for the adding Abu Dhabi to the 2009 season. 1st place went to Ahmed Schumacher in his Toyota Landcruiser, a later interview revealed he didn't even know it was a race but was in a rush to get to Marina Mall*

Cake

As the UAE football team won the 18th GCC cup beating Oman 1-0, some of the locals at work arranged for a rather big cake to be delivered, it was good but turned my tongue gray. Nice gesture though.
